989 2011-02-21 20:46:27 UTC Five Year Anniversary Tasting - Episode #989 2008 Talley Rincon Vineyard Arroyo Grande Valley Chardonnay 92+ #1 (tie); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-a little tight; subtle caramel and butterscotch; hint of toasted oak; may be a little young and need some more time sideways; PALATE-it comes across more Burgundian (meaning: less Oak, not over-the-top, has more minerality and acid); so this has it's balance in check; has great fruit (crushed pear and apple puree); has great acidity; good backbone; there is a little hint of buttered popcorn and oak and cedar, but it's balanced and nuanced and not over-the-top which is AWESOME; this wine balance is extraordinary; I like this wine a lot; this is textbook Chardonnay; while not cheap at $42 bones, when compared to White Burgs this is a value; let this cellar for 3-4 years; GV-92+
